as i was typing my last post, i was realizing that the majority of my projects had been someone else's idea. i'm not good at coming up with projects or designs on my own. i see something that i like, figure out how to make it, or follow a tutorial, and make it work for me. i change it until it matches what i want it to look like or until it works for what i need.
for the necklace i added the extra strand because i didn't like the way just one looked.
for the flower pins, instead of having them be all fabric, i really liked the way buttons/beads looked as the center.
for the banners, they were originally supposed to be one word, but since i wanted to do 2 names, i had to come up with a way to separate the names, enter picture circles.
on one hand, i feel like i'm not really creative because i'm not coming up with these thing by myself. on the other hand, i am creative because i can envision how i want things to be or look and then i can make that happen.
does anyone else deal with this?
i'm hoping that as i continue creating, i'll start creating completely from scratch. i know that i'll be influenced from all the things i see from other fabulous crafters. but, that's what it will be, an influence, not building on or deconstructing someone else's projects.
