and my answer is....

rachel over at smile and wave (love her blog) posted this little survey today. i hardly ever do these, but i decided i'd give it a whirl. i answered the questions in her comment section, but then some of them really started to make me think. i thought it would be fun to post it here in my little space and go a little more in depth.
here we go.....

1. when do you feel happiest?
i really wanted my answer to be something charming like, when i'm on the floor playing with my kids, but truthfully, it's not. i love my kids. i love being around them and enjoying them enjoy their toys. :) i'm at my happiest when i'm caught up on all the 'stuff' and i can enjoy hanging out with my family and friends without the 'stuff' hanging over me.

2. how do you take care of yourself?
i really don't take of myself. this is something i'm really trying to change. it's funny, well, not really funny, but i'm really strict about what my kids eat. for myself, i have junk hidden and will eat junk or not eat at all through out the day. i go to bed way too late and don't exercise regularly. i've recently started making a concerted effort to go to bed by 11 at the latest. and
i'm going to start eating better during the day. i actually enjoying working out when i do
it.

3. are you internally (by yourself) or externally (by others) motivated?
this is a really hard question for me because i'm both and neither. there are certain things i do because i'm afraid of what people would think of me if i didn't do them. other things i do, i do solely because i want to and i enjoy doing them. then, there are those times where nothing can motivate me. i'm a slug and couch potato. the problem comes when i'm a slug and couch potato for several days in a row. the more i am that way, the longer i stay that way. when things become overwhelming, i tend to just shut down and the cycle continues.

4. what do you do for fun?
one of my favorite things to do (by myself or with a friend) is to get a cup of coffee and browse around a bookstore. i love bookstores.

5. what intimidates you?
i've actually really grown in this area. when i was in high school, calling to order a pizza intimidated me. i couldn't go shopping by myself. nowadays, i still don't like calling the pizza place, but i can do it. things that intimidate me now would be large groups of people. i love going to baseball games, but going into and especially out of the stadium scares me. i'm not a big city person for that reason. putting myself out there in terms of showing my creative side also is very intimidating to me.

6. what is something you're proud of?
i'm proud of the fact that i'm getting off my rear and learning about the things that i want to get better at. photography and jewelry making for starters.

7. finish this sentence. I never _____________.
i never want to be pregnant again. i know that sounds bad, but i'm done. i have three beautiful kids. i didn't really even have bad pregnancies. just the thought of going through pregnancy and labor again and the newborn stage again, as fun as it is some of the time.... i don't know. i'm just glad i won't have to do that part of it again. i love where my kids are now and i'm enjoying this stage of life.

8. favorite vacation spot.
we've never had a lot of money. so far, all of our vacations have taken place at my parents house. i love my family. they're fabulous.

9. today is a (rate from 1 - 10).
well, it started out as a 3 or 4. things definitely got better throughout the day. i would have to say it ended up being about a 6 1/2.

10. finish this sentence. If you knew me really well you'd know _____________.
.....that i'm much more opinionated than i let on. most people who know me and my husband would say that my husband is the more vocal, opinionated of the two of us. yeah, not so much. behind the scenes is a different story. i guess he is the more vocal one. i think it's because in social situations, i'm not great at thinking fast. i'm the contemplator type. i'll think of all kinds of witty, intelligent things i could have said over the next 24 hrs. my husband gets to hear all of my thoughts. :) either that or i'm just not brave enough to say anything because i don't want to be wrong or for it to be dumb once it comes out of my mouth. but, most of the time, i just enjoy the conversation and rehash them all with the hubby later.

well, that's me. if you feel like giving your own answers, feel free! i'm off to watch survivor. although, with boston rob gone, i'm not quite as excited. i love boston rob. best survivor ever.
