my funny kids

a little convo with big sis

big sis: mom, are we play mobils?

me: um, what?

big sis: are we play mobil people?

me: no.

big sis: are we in a book?

me:
no.

big sis: are you sure some little girl or boy isn't making us talk?

me:
i'm sure.

big sis: are you really sure?

me: yep. i'm really sure.

.....about 10 minutes later

big sis: mom, are there more trees or more people?

me: um, i'm pretty sure there are more trees.

big sis: are you sure?

me: pretty sure.

big sis: are you positive?

me: pretty positive.

big sis: do you promise?

me: um, i think so.

big sis: is there more clouds or more sky?

me: more sky.

(the whole are you sure/do you promise/are you positive part happens again)

big sis: is there more grass or more flowers?

biglittle: more grass.

big sis: are you sure?.......

big sis thinking that we could be some toys that another kid is playing with or a story in a book?!! i really wish i could get into her mind sometimes.

************some biglittle************

i was putting biglittle to bed a couple of nights ago. and he asked if God created him.

me: yes, God created you. and you grew in my belly.

biglittle: i grew in your belly?

me: yep.

biglittle: big sis was WRONG!

me: (thinking, omg what in the world did bigsis say?! we haven't had any sort of TALK or anything) um, what did big sis say?

biglittle: she said that god created me in heaven and that when he was done he said, 'ok, time to go to your mom and dad now.' she's wrong.

me: yes, honey she's wrong. that's not what happened. you grew up all the way in mommy's belly.

silence.

biglittle: mommy?

me: yes?

biglittle: is heaven in your belly?

the same night i asked him what song he wanted me to sing.

biglittle: um, i could teach you a song.

me: no, biglittle, if you want me to sing you a song, it has to be one i already know.

biglittle: ok. can i sing you my song?

me: ok

biglittle:
god is strong. god is strong. he can lift real live dinosaurs. he can make you feel better when you're sad and cry.

this whole conversation was funny. he's not a kid that talks a lot about God so, it was really interesting that this one night he was very focused.

******some more big sis*******

we went out to dinner with some friends. on the way home jeff and i were talking about how much fun we had and how it just a great time. jeff asked me how my food was. i said it was really good, except that the salmon had a little bit too much pepper.

big sis pipes up from the back:
my cheese was a bit too thick. (she had had mac and cheese)

later in the same car ride, jeff was talking about how tired he was.

big sis: dad, when we get home could you just lay down on the couch or on your bed and pull the covers up and go right to sleep?

jeff: why, big sis, yes i could. could you? are you pretty tired?

big sis: well, no. i could lay down on my bed, but i generally like to think for a little bit before i go to sleep.

jeff: oh, really? what do you think about?

big sis: top chef masters.

HAHAHAHAHAH! what the heck?! i love my kids!
