meet dorrie

yes, dorrie is my new sewing machine! i've been wanting to learn how to sew for a really long time. my parents, brother and his wife, sister and her husband, and my husband all went in together to get this for me as an early birthday present!! i was so excited. i am so excited.

i saw online about a month ago that rachel, leigh ann, and courtney were offering an online home ec class for beginning sewers. it looked awesome, so, i signed up! it is so awesome. i know next to nothing about sewing. this class is perfect for me. the projects go from easiest to hardest and introduce at least one new technique with each one.

this is me practicing sewing straight lines. i'm telling you, i'm way new at this. i didn't want to start a project and mess it up on the first try!

there was an early bird project, a pin cushion, that i didn't actually do until the class had already started. but, hey, it's a go at your own pace class.  i'm definitely going at my own pace!
